What is SPC?

CASE flooring is a rigid core using stone plastic composite (SPC) material. SPC combines natural limestone and stabilizers to create a strong, durable, 100% waterproof core. This rigid construction provides exceptional stability, dent resistance, and long-lasting performance — a great fit for busy homes, coastal properties, and commercial spaces.

Understanding the Numbers

LVP products are described using two important measurements — total thickness (in millimeters) and wear layer (in mils). Both matter, and together they tell you how the floor will perform.

5 mm, 6 mm, etc.

TOTAL THICKNESS

This is the overall thickness of the plank, including the wear layer, SPC core, and attached underlayment. A thicker plank often feels more solid underfoot and can help with sound reduction and stability.

20 mil, 28 mil, etc.

WEAR LAYER

This is the clear, protective top layer that resists scratches, stains, and daily wear. A higher mil rating generally means greater durability, making it a great choice for high-traffic areas, pets, and active households.

Locking Systems

CASE flooring uses licensed, patented Unilin® and Välinge® locking systems. These proven systems provide a secure, tight lock between planks, creating a stable, long-lasting floor that's easy to install and built to perform.

Floor Preparation

Proper subfloor preparation is essential for the best performance and warranty coverage. The subfloor should be clean, dry, flat, and structurally sound. Most installations can be done over concrete or wood subfloors. Any uneven areas should be smoothed, and the surface should be free of dust, debris, and old adhesive.

Underlayment Requirements

CASE flooring products come with an attached underlayment, so an additional underlayment is not needed and can void the warranty. When installing over concrete, a 6-mil poly moisture barrier is required to help protect against moisture. Always follow CASE's installation guidelines for complete details.

Installation Basics

  • Allow flooring to acclimate to the room temperature.
  • Maintain the recommended expansion gap around walls and fixed objects.
  • Do not install under permanent cabinets or built-ins.
  • Follow CASE's full installation instructions for all details.
